This morning President Bush gave a press conference on banking, mortgage institutions, and the state of the economy. We all understand the state of the current economy. Anyone who walks into a grocery store understands that their bill for staples is increasing while their job security and retirement savings is in flux. $4 a gallon gasoline (approaching $5 in some places) exacerbates this problem. It is not a comfortable time for Americans. And yet the president continues to try and blame congress and Americans' lack of confidence in the economy for the problems when he carries a good part of the blame for where we are today. It is my understanding that a man was supposed to step up and take responsibility for actions or inactions taken, not pass the buck. President Bush likes to tout that he makes the tough decisions because he's the "decider." Today, he sounded like a frustrated, angry child who wasn't getting his way.
The most interesting comment coming from the press conference, President Bush calls for Americans to conserve energy (but only after a question prompted it).
