McCain, take some advice from Schweitzer

New York Times -- Disclosures on Palin Raise Questions on Vetting Process

It seems that John McCain was interested in choosing either Joseph Lieberman or Tom Ridge, people he felt comfortable running with, but was under pressure from influential conservatives to find another VP candidate because both men favor abortion rights. Enter Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska.

Oh, John... We've been watching over the past year how you have sacrificed your "maverick" image in order to gain support from the conservative base of the Republican party, a group married to the Religious Right (or Wrong). Was it worth it, John? Maybe you should have heeded a little advice from Montana's Gov. Brian Schweitzer when he told Charlie Rose, "People don't have to agree with all of the issues you take up. They just want to know that you believe it, that you will do the right thing, that you are not a phony." In other words John, you should have stuck to your guns.*
