Clinton Concedes with Inspirational Speech

Hillary Clinton conceded her run for the White House today in D.C. and formally endorsed Barack Obama. 2008 was a groundbreaking year in American politics where both a black man and a woman for the first time in history had a realistic opportunity at becoming president of the United States. Clinton referred to the historical significance of this in her speech by comparing it to women's suffrage and the civil rights movement. Despite what happens in November, the race of 2008 has made it easier for women and minorities to achieve the highest office in the land because (in her own words) "although we weren't able to shatter that highest, hardest glass ceiling this time, thanks to you, it has about 18 million cracks in it and the light is shining through like never before."

Hillary's concession speech was one of her best showings. I thought she really wore her heart and her purpose on her sleeve in contrast to many of her previous speeches where it sounded more like the runt of the litter barking as loud as possible in order to be heard.
Things have come a long way since the days when our mother's were trying to break the inequality barrier and I think Hillary has shown just exactly how far we've come.
I say, keep going Hillary, your place in current history may not be as our President but I have no doubt that you will keep fighting for noble causes like universal health care and education. And who knows...with speeches like your last I think you might have a shot at the top one day, Mrs. President. Just make sure you remember to keep Bill in line.
